Eye Movement Therapy

What is Eye Movement Therapy?

It is a simple yet powerful methodology to use eye movements to bring about changes in mood, behaviour and attitudes and through that bring about desirable changes in your life.

How does moving the Eyes change mood?

It is one of the key discoveries in NLP that the eyes move specifically in the visual field to access the different sensory systems of vision, sound and feelings.  It was then uncovered that when you deliberately do eye movements holding a memory, it brings reliable and consistent changes.

The first change is that the feeling associated with the memory usually reduces.

The second change  that happens is that the visual and audio qualities of the memory in such a way that the original feelings never recur again or at very minimal intensity.

How does moving the Eyes change behaviour?

If your behaviour is connected with past memories that are running in the background, then by identifying those past connected memories and impacting them, it forever changes behaviour. We use specific techniques from NLP to identify those connected memories. The creates changes in behaviour.

How does moving the Eyes change attitude?

Your attitude is a function of many factors but primarily of how you think of yourself. When you impact and change the various imprints in your life that happened at an early age, you bring about a movement towards healthy integration and changes in attitude then follow as a byproduct of that. We call this change at the level of Identity in NLP.

Can I handle all my issues through this methodology?

This is a powerful methodology and everyone who uses it will experience some benefit for sure. However it is not a universal cure for everything but when combined with other methods in NLP, it works synergistically to create profound and consistent change. Eye Movement therapy in various forms has known to reliably produce results in PTSD, Depression, Trauma, Guilt, Shame, Remorse, Regret, Anxiety, Panic, Stress, Anger and temperamental issues.

How did it originate?

It is from the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and a lot of pioneers from that field have contributed to bring it to the level that it is now. Originally it was found that when someone was holding a traumatic memory, their eyes were stuck in a particular position, by goading the eyes to change position there was an immediate impact felt. Then others experimented different eye patterns and movements. From there the subject has continued to grow and different people have then taken it, added their insights & sometimes combined with other methodologies to give it various names.

Testimonials

I was invited to try an eye therapy by my Scout colleague. The therapy session was kindly offered by Krish as a hand of support to those Ukrainians faced difficult times. I have not heard about eye therapy before and was glad to learn about simple practices of helping the others and self. We had few circles of eye movements and what a miracle was to get a relief of disturbing my head matters. The feelings, mood and behaviour went differently in just simply few minutes. It was true for a couple of situations I chosen to work on during the session. Previously disturbing feeling of disappointment, fear, going perhaps from childhood,  went down and what is interesting an overall attitude to the situation in the past has changed. It became less viable I would say. Simple eye movements, concentration, correct body position and breath - these make a difference. I do believe this should try everyone since we are living beings and express different feelings, emotions, some old memories are in our minds and sometimes they prevents us from growing. What is more important - we are able to provide such a support and therapy, show how to perform to anyone who requires it and wishes to try. In Scouting we are doing community service and this is one of the way how we can help for those asking and interested.

II have been experiencing fear of heights for a long time now. Since 2007, when I became aware of it, I used to feel the jitters, in my legs and a chilling feel used to run down my body whenever I looked down from a height more than 1 or 2 floors. When we tried to work on it using Eye Movement Therapy on our session which was online, I was not sure if it will really be possible to get over it so quickly. It has been over two weeks now, and each time I go to the balcony or look down from a high bridge, I still feel some minor tingle of a sensation, but it is nowhere near how I used to feel before. I also liked very much how the session was protecting one's privacy of thoughts and memories. It is one of those simple yet magical healing techniques that I hope spreads far and wide to help people in need.
