Armband Program
The Armband program is an instructional stream designed to develop fencers with; strong technical knowledge, good tactical observation skills and, through this, a capacity for adaptation, and a more complete general knowledge of fencing (which will lead to better fencers, coaches, and officials).
The program is divided into five separate, but related, performance factors; technical, tactical, rules, refereeing, and at the higher levels coaching. To pass a level, fencers will have to demonstrate skills within the regular practice of the club and within a "formal exam".
The Fencing Association of Nova Scotia (FANS) is in the process of developing manuals as a way to track and aide a fencer's progression through the sport. With the permission of FANS, the NLFA will be using the same manuals for Newfoundland and Labrador fencers.
