Utilize your daylight wisely...
At night your endurance will be tested.
This mod is called Nightcraft for a reason. The typical day/night cycle in MC is 1.5 minutes of dawn, 10 of day, 1.5 of dusk, and 7 of night. In the NC world we have 1.5 minutes of dawn, 5 of day, 1.5 of dusk, and 12 of night.
Starvation
You know what happens when you starve? You die.
In NC hunger management is a necessity. Your food bar will passively decay even while not active, and when it drops to 0 your hearts will too.
Mob Spawn
Take care when the moon is high.
In addition to the monsters MC throws at you, NC will spawn even more and follow different rules than you would be accustomed to. Light is no longer a silver bullet defense against the mobs of the night.Â
The island is only the beginning.
The world of Nightcraft might seem like a normal MC world at first, but as you wander about you will find that you are on an island surrounded by lava. Outside this island are 3 concentric rings of land, each progressing in difficulty and resource availability.
The Island
The center of the NC world and where you begin your test to survive. The monsters of the island are less dangerous than those in the rings, but don't get overzealous... they can quickly outnumber you if you leave safety. Though rare, coal is available on the island and it's your most precious resource for survival.
The Blue Gold Ring
After 5 years on a hellish island... you're ready to step it up. The first ring is the Blue Gold ring. Coal is much more abundant here than on the island. If you dig deep enough, you can find gold and lazuli. Of course, that's only if you can live long enough to retrieve it.
The Red Iron Ring
On the second ring more resources become available, although very rare. Gold and lazuli are more abundant. The monsters are much tougher than those of previous zones and will require teamwork to develop a settlement. The ring is named for the iron and redstone that can be found deep in the caves...
The Green Diamond Ring
If you are striving to be the top tier NC player on the server, this is your playground. The nights are arduous, the monsters are brutal, and the loot is phat. Developing something even resembling a settlement is a raid in itself. In the deepest caverns it is rumored that there are veins of emerald and diamond.
Aesthetic BuildingThat's a nice everything you have there...
Light won't keep you safe, but it will decrease the spawn chance in the area. Similarly, building your settlement out of nicer blocks will also reduce the chance that a baddy will appear at your bedside. A dirt and cobblestone house looks more like a home to a monster than it looks like a home for an adventurer. Get some wood planks, a door, some windows, maybe some flowers, and you will find yourself less annoyed by zombies than the guy living in a cave. Step it up to wool floors, stained-glass windows, smooth brick walls, put some paintings on the walls and your place will seem more like a home than a bunker.
Nightcraft introduces persistent progression that makes you more resilient to monster attacks and dish out more pain to the masses of mobs as you gain experience in the world. Start at player level 0 and progress up to level 30. The stronger the monsters are... the more experience you get!
NightcraftUI
What's gonna work? Teamwork.
This external web-based tool allows you to view the health, hunger, player level, class, class level, cooldowns, buffs, and relative location of other players (and yourself).
StructuresCan we build it? Yes we can.
Nightcraft introduces structures, 3-dimensional block recipes that when complete will provide a service to the player who built it and their allies. Teleporters, crop irrigators, repair boxes, and turrets are just a few of the structures you can build to help you survive in NC.
You got class.
Class-es actually, six to be precise. Each class has it's own unique abilities to bring to the table, and a passive bonus for any nearby friendlies to benefit from. Similar to player level, you also have a class level for each class starting at class level 0 and progressing to level 10. You can switch your class to another with the right tools.
