I am an Economist at the Council of Economic Advisοrs at the Hellenic Ministry of Finance. I am also a Visiting Researcher at the University College London Energy Institute.
My field of research is International Trade and Industrial Organisation.
I work on Economic Growth and Structural Reforms regarding the Greek Economy and energy related topics of international maritime transport at the Energy Institute.
I hold a PhD in Economics at the University of Southampton under the supervision of Hector Calvo-Pardo and Jackline Wahba.
My primary research interests lie in models of international trade that incorporate a transport sector. I develop theoretical models and empirical applications to determine the impact of the industrial organisation of transportation on trade flows. My aim is to raise awareness for developing nations, of the benefits and pitfalls that stem from transportation. Being less transport integrated, these countries absorb high transport costs in order to penetrate foreign markets, given their relatively high export productivity thresholds. The absorption prevents export-led development, reducing wages and inducing a welfare impact. Developing an integrated transport network could assist in the amelioration of such adversities.
If you would like to find out more about this topic, please read the introduction of my PhD Thesis entitled "Modelling Transport Costs in International Trade".
