Prospective students

I am always interested in discussing potential research projects with prospective students, and am active in supervising student research. I typically supervise students in the following programs:

My research is primarily empirical, and seeks to understand (a) the impact of public policies on economic and environmental outcomes, and (b) the impact of changes in environmental conditions on socio-economic outcomes. Most of the student projects that I supervise also contain an original empirical component along these lines.

If you would like to meet with me to discuss research opportunities, I ask that you come prepared as follows:

  • Take a look at some of my prior publications or current working papers to understand the types of questions that I work on and the types of approaches that I take to answer them.

  • Give some thought to the type of research question that you are interested in, and think about how you might go about finding an answer.

If you are interested in pursuing a PhD under my supervision, please send me an e-mail with the following information:

  • CV

  • Master's and undergraduate transcripts

  • A short research proposal (~2-3 pages), describing the research question you are interested in answering as well as an approach that you could use to answer the question.
