Regular Season Rules
The base annual fee is $50.
Each team must carry a minimum of 23 players and a maximum of 25 players at all times.
The active roster is comprised of 15 players: 2 goaltenders, 4 defensemen, 9 forwards.
Points are accumulated only when a player is on the active roster.
Points are as follows: 1 for a goal, 1 for an assist, 2 for a goaltender's win, 1 for a goaltender's OT loss (including shoot-out loss) and 1 for a goaltender's shutout.
Regular season ties are broken by goaltender wins.
The active roster salary cap is $88 million for the 2024/2025 season.
The salary cap for a team's entire roster is $130 million for the 2024/2025 season.
Teams can make four roster call-ups during a calendar month (at any time) without incurring a penalty. To be eligible on a given date, the player must be called up prior to his game starting, as well as prior to the start of the game involving the player who is being replaced.
Teams can make a maximum of TEN call-ups per month, however, each call up after the fourth call up will incur a penalty fee of $5 each.
Any player not on an NCC roster is eligible to be claimed after that season's draft and up until that season's trade deadline. A waiver claim made during the regular season is $10. There is no limit to the number of claims that an NCC team can make.
A player who is claimed goes to the reserve list, unless he is replacing a player who was on the active roster and is being released outright as a result of the new player coming onto the roster.
The team finishing in last place will pay an additional $35 to cover officepools.com fees in addition to their annual fees and their roster move fees.
The team finishing in second last place (i.e. 9th) will pay an additional $18 to cover the remainder of the officepools.com fees in addition to their annual fees and their roster move fees.
The fines for exceeding the full roster salary cap is $1 per $100,000 that you are over, per day. For example, if you are $340,000 over the full roster salary cap, your fine will be $4 per day.
The fines for exceeding the active roster salary cap are the same for exceeding the full roster salary cap. However, in addition, any points accumulated while you are over the active roster salary cap will be deducted at the end of the season.
Exceeding both the full roster and active player caps will result in the higher penalty being multiplied by a factor of two.
Should a player have their contract renegotiated during the regular season which results in a team being over the salary cap, that team will have 24 hours to make roster moves to remain under the cap. Failure to do so within 24 hours will result in the fines as specified with rules 14, 15 and 16.
The winner of the regular season wins two-thirds of the pot.
Playoff Rules
Points are allocated as per the regular season, with the exception of a single point being awarded to the goaltenders for an overtime loss. No points are awarded for overtime losses.
A total of ten roster moves are permitted during the playoffs.
The winner of the playoffs wins the remaining one-third of the pot.
A tie at the end of the playoffs is to be broken by goaltender wins, then by total games played. If players are still tied after the three tie-breakers the winnings are split.
Failure to submit your starting playoff lineup prior to the start of the first playoff game will result in your disqualification from the playoffs.
The salary cap is not enforced during the playoffs.
Re-Draft Rules
The 2024/2025 redraft has been completed.
Prior to the 2024/2025 season re-draft, the team winning the regular season can protect 12 players. Teams finishing 2nd to 9th can protect 15 players.
On Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 at Noon Mountain Time, teams that have less than 25 players can claim undrafted/unprotected players on a first come/ first serve basis. Claims must be made using the form submission. Emails will not be accepted.
There is no minimum to the number of players protected. All unprotected players are considered free agents and go into the pool of players that can be drafted by other teams.
A team can be over the cap after the re-draft, but must adhere to the cap rules by the first day of the regular season.
Starting with the 2025/26 season, the maximum number of consecutive times a player can be protected is 5. Players who are under the age of 26 when the season starts are exempt from this rule.
If a player is traded and then reacquired, the protected clock resets.
