Committees & Events
We welcome help in any capacity! Opportunities arise as new events and programs are added throughout the year. We do our best to update this information continually and to notify everyone of needs via social media. Requests for volunteers and supplies are typically emailed via SignUp Genius.
Fundraising: Work with the NHS PTO Board to evaluate the fundraising goals and help develop new fundraising opportunities each year.
Beautification: Work with school administration to address the exterior of NHS. Volunteers are needed to help plant, water, and weed various areas around the parking lots, playing fields, and school entrances. Most work is done in Fall and Spring (2024 Chair: Carin Gosselin).
Teacher Appreciation Luncheons: Held in December and May (on Early Release Days), these luncheons give us a chance to thank our wonderful faculty and staff. These lunches get nearly 100% attendance! Parents donate sandwiches, salads, soups, desserts, drinks, etc.; volunteers are needed to set up, serve food, and clean up afterward.
MCAS Snacks: Held in March, May, and June. Provide students with healthy snacks at school during Spring MCAS testing. Due to new regulations governing food selections, Norwell Food Services purchases the snacks, and the PTO funds them.
Egg My Yard: Hip, Hop, Hooray! Help make Easter magic for the little kids in our community. Coordinate the event with student volunteers who hide eggs in yards the night before Easter along with a special note from the Easter Bunny!
Prom: Work in conjunction with school administration, faculty advisers, and student government, the NHS PTO supports the pre-prom community gathering "red-carpet" before departure to prom.
Senior Breakfast: Coordinate getting donations of breakfast foods and coordinate volunteers to help set up, serve, and clean up.
Senior Balloons: Each year, every graduating senior receives balloons at their home on the morning of Graduation. Help order, coordinate delivery, and more for this heartwarming tradition.
Remembrance: When we lose members or family members of our school community, we send cards, as well as flowers or donations based on the wishes of each family. We also organize memorials or collections as needed and assist families suffering hardships.
Outdoor Classroom: Work with school administration to create a learning area in a natural environment and surroundings.
Facebook/Social Media: PTO events and other information can be found on NHS PTO's Facebook page.
Student Directory: Work with the Admin-provided PTO family contact list for the PTO Family Directory.
Website: Maintain the website. Basic computer programming and graphic design.
