Llys Meddyg Death

Llys Meddyg is merging with Plas Menai in Llanfairfechan, for cost reasons. Whatever is said once its closed its doubtful that it will be reopened. Betsi Cadwaladr hasn’t got enough money to cover all its costs, it is being deliberately starved of money by the Welsh Assembly.

The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, is the sole NHS Board for North Wales. Compared to the rest of Wales Health Boards, Betsi Cadwaladr is relatively speaking the poor relation. So much so that there has been serious talk not that long ago, of doing away with it altogether, and of amalgamating it with one of the other Welsh NHS Boards.

Such is the complete disdain felt in South Wales towards North Wales.

NHS Wales is the responsibility of the Welsh Assembly and the Welsh Minister for Health and Social Services. However the financial reality for the NHS in Wales, is that its Budget is decided by the Welsh Assembly.

This Minister decides where this Budget is spent, at present North Wales has a Health Board, but historically Betsi Cadwaladr has been continually financially short changed. They have been continually left bereft of sufficient funds to cover all of its necessary spending. This is resulting in the Closure of Penmaenmawr G.P. Surgery. Following on from similar problems for Doctors Surgeries across North Wales, including those in Conwy & Wrexham.

People in Wales assume that because the NHS in Wales is devolved that it is not affected by the Conservative Government in Westminster political policies, especially regarding its Privatisation of the NHS.

But this English Government has no love lost for Wales, and is deliberately withdrawing funds from the Welsh Assembly.

This is so short sighted, if they can't cope with 2 Surgeries, how do Plas Menai Surgery imagine they hope to manage with just 1 Surgery?

They will see the effect when patients from both surgeries start to pour through their doors.
