DIAMOND JUBILEE CLASS of 55
Twenty one class mates met at Atlantic Oak Island Inn on Sept 14 th, 15th to
celebrate sixty years since we graduated.
As happy as we all were to see our class gather it was tinged with sadness since
so many were not able to attend because of health problems or family
responsibilities.
We arrived at the Inn in twos and threes and some on their own. Betty Maidment
came from Vernon BC after a long tiring flight , navigating through Calgary and
Toronto and finally Halifax. Brave girl !
Eunice drove from Kerville TX in her Lincoln SUV, it took her four " over nights " ,
she picked up Shirley Charlton and Betty Coombs on the way.
Helen Smith from Aurora ON joined us during her month long stay in NS. Lola
Gregory flew in from Cornerbrook and Betty Ann Plant represented NB.
All the Nova Scotians drove in, enjoying the beautiful early fall day.
We spent the first evening getting reacquainted and catching up.
On Wed. some drove to Chester, Mahone Bay and White point to browse and
play tourist.
Shirley Lacey brought the scrap books and we poured over them recalling other
reunions and lunches.
Vera Wambolt brought the Photo panel with the pictures of our dear classmates
that have passed away along with our "capping " photo.
In the evening we put on our finery and enjoyed a delish dinner
Betty Ann read the latest internet senior story which was a good laugh and one
that we could all relate to, Erna tried to explain her method of Facebook..
We all posed for a group picture .
We thank Barb and Pat (the twins) and Erna and Dale for co-ordinating the
arrangements and gathering the little bags of favors, which included a little
Crystel angel sun catcher in lieu of a diamond tiara.
The Maritime Girls will get together over lunch sometime in May.
