Cabinet refinishing: Job Specs: The estimated number of days to complete a kitchen cabinet refinishing project can vary based on what type of finish you would like (ex; stain and clear finish, painted etc.) how many cabinets there are, color choice and hardware installation.
The prep Process starts by disassembling doors and drawers to be cleaned, de-greased, and, finely sanded/scuffed (not to bare wood) Prepare upper, lower and island base cabinets using Benjamin Moore fresh start or insl-x stix Alkyd/bonding primer.
They will then be spray finished with a machine sprayer and sanded between all 3-4 coats, and set onto drying racks to cure all done on premises. This usually takes 4-5 days total (depending on kitchen size like a typical 30-40 piece kitchen) from start to finish depending on humidity and curing conditions which can vary and extend dry times. Paint can be vented with fan to outside if needed.
Cabinet Prep (Process and Product Description) How to paint cabinets? the right way!
-Cabinet doors sanded down with 180 grit 3M to remove the old finish (using cabinet sander w/ HEPA filter to contain dust particles)
-Primed with either Oil or Urethane cabinet primer Benjamin Moore (Machine sprayed) placed on a drying racks to cure
-Sanded down again with 320 grit 3M
-Top coated in cabinet paint which is a Urethane furniture enamel
-Second and top final coat with top coat Benjamin Moore Cabinet Command urethane enamel or fine paints of Europe both are Eco urethane waterborne Satin finishes (optional upgrade which adds material cost to be adjusted) High gloss sheen can also be used for extreme durability.
-Once cured after 15-30 days they can be washed and maintained by using a microfiber towel and mild dish soap (for painted) or an oil based furniture soap (for clear coated cabinets).

FAQs:
Is Cabinet Paint Different?
Yes, cabinet paint is a specifically designed finish meant for adhesion to furniture and millwork that is a higher durability.
Is Cabinet Paint Latex?
Not quite, while modern cabinet paints are water based they are typically a 1k or 2k Urethane either with a hardening catalyst or without.
How much does Cabinet Painting cost?
Our professional cabinet painting services are determined based on the number of openings, meaning total pieces to be painted ex: doors, drawers, shelves etc. Also the type of finish you would like and how much prep is needed to remove the previous coating. Most unpainted cabinets just need to be delicately scuff sanded before painting.
Pictured above are custom finished cabinets that we completed in Millbrook NY, and a great example of an off-white color scheme and a contrast accent color. Twilight blue (2067-30) on the island and Tapestry Beige (OC-32) on the upper and lower base cabinets. This is great example of an accent color that compliments the beige and the blue tones of Fanfare (874) used on the walls, all chosen from Benjamin Moore.
