“Where there is no vision, the people perish”
Proverbs 29:18
Have you ever played that game where you are blindfolded and have to walk across the room being guided only by the voice of your partner? You remember what the room looked like before being blindfolded but while you were blindfolded someone moved all the furniture around. Then they spun you around and walked you all over the room so you had no idea where you were starting from. To make matters worse every blindfolded person's partner is screaming directions so it is almost impossible to hear your partner. In your mind you think you can make it across the room without any help from your partner so you take off on your own hoping for the best. After stumping your toe on a couch, tripping over some random object laying on the floor and running into several other blindfolded players you realize you have to listen to your partner. Without vision you suffered a hurt toe, maybe a bruised knee and more than likely damaged your pride. You were so glad to take off that blindfold so you could see again. New Vision Baptist Fellowship is here to help you remove your spiritual blindfold.
We as individuals walk around spiritually blindfolded in a world full of obstacles. Without warning we run head first into sickness. While we are trying to feel our way around we trip over temptation. As we are trying to make our way through our life we are trying to dodge a loss of a job, death of a love one, empty bank accounts with a mail box full of bills, divorce, failing grades, wayward children, depression and many other flying obstacles. Just like the other blindfolded players you never know when one of these will blindside us from any direction. How do we survive? If we lose the blindfolded game life goes on but in the real world these obstacles are real life changing events. Where do we turn?
We could turn to drugs and alcohol and there is always a new self-help book we could purchase but I prefer something else. I believe that there is a vision we can follow that will guide us through our life. It is our partner yelling our instructions. Who is our partner? The Lord Jesus Christ. He has perfect vision. He can see the past, the present and the future so His instructions are always accurate. He can also see what is on our outside and what is in our inside. He knows our fears, pains, worries and heartache. He has a plan to take all of those things away. It is called the Plan of Salvation. It begins with us admitting we are sinners (face it we have all done bad things). Next we must believe that God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a cross for our sins. He was placed in a tomb and three days later He AROSE! Lastly we must confess that He is our Lord and our Savior and live a life that proves it. You can do this through a simple prayer asking Jesus into your heart.
Sadly, even we, as Christians, trip over the obstacles Satan sits before us. We trip over temptation and run away from God and His perfect plan for our life. In other words, we put on a blindfold and think we can make it on our own but once the blindfold is on everything changes just like the furniture did in our game. We trip and fall, stump our toes and get confused on who we should listen be listening to with all of the voices we are hearing. Christians, we can take our blindfold off again if we begin to listen to God and His plan.
