Dr. Paraskevi Fragopoulou received her B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Crete in 1989, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada in 1990 and 1995, respectively. Currently, she is a Professor of Computer Science, and Head of the Department of Informatics Engineering, Technological Educational Institute of Crete in Heraklion. She is also an Associated Researcher at the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH-ICS), as member of the Distributed Computing Systems Laboratory (DCS).

She performed research in several Institutions such as the École Normale Supérieur de Lyon (ENS-Lyon), and the Danish Computer Center for Research and Education (UNI-C) where she was part of the parallel scientific computing group. She received a Marie-Curie European Fellowship at the Université Paris-Sud, Orsay, France and was Maitre de Conference at the Université de Versailles, France.

Dr. Fragopoulou, has co-authored more than 60 conference/journal papers and book chapters. She has served as a reviewer for several conferences/journals and in the program committee of several conferences. Her primary research interests are in the areas of Distributed and Parallel Computing, Computer Networks and Communications, and Internet Technology. She has participated in several projects funded by the European Commission and by the Greek Government.

Dr. Costas Panagiotakis was born in Heraklion, Crete, Greece in 1979. He received the B.Sc. , M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science fromUniversity of Crete in 2001, 2003 and 2007, respectively. Currently, he is Associate Professor in Department of Business Administration, Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Crete. He has been involved in several R&D projects funded by the EC. In the past, he was Visiting Professor in Computer Science Dept., University of Crete (2008-2012).

He is the author of one book (monograph) and more than 60 articles in international journals and conferences with more than 600 citations. His research interests include signal processing, image and video analysis, 3D animation, multimedia, networks and pattern recognition.
