Neolithic Structures - UK

(Evidence of Sunrise Orientation)

D McClellan Marshall.  Midsummer 2012

In Britain stone ancient stone structures were very popular.  There are currently about 900 stone markers in Britain that date from the Neolithic or Bronze Age.  Scholars estimate that about twice that many originally existed.

The stone structures found and checked in England and Wales are in a damaged state.  This could be due to natural spoilage by the local population ( i.e. quarrying ) or/and deliberate wreckage by the Romans in their policy of genocide of the Druids.

It is highly likely that the Druids knew of the stone structures and used them as sacred places.  In addition the removal of an important agricultural aid would make farming and the food supply unreliable, and thus reduce and subdue the local population.  The stone structures in Scotland, Somerset and Cornwall, where the Romans did not successfully invade, appear to remain relatively intact.

An example of an apparently wrecked stone structure can be found in the Kingston Russell stone circle.
