I am an economist with expertise in mortgage and housing markets, and household finance. I currently serve as a Special Advisor in the Consumer Finance Institute at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Prior to joining the Philly Fed in 2022, I was at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, most recently serving as Chief of the Real Estate Finance Section in the Division of Research and Statistics. I have published research in leading economics journals such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Monetary Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies. In addition to my research activity and FOMC-related work, I have been engaged in Federal regulatory policy related to consumer financial protection and fair lending, contributed to the Fed's monitor of financial stability, and helped produce the 2019 Survey of Consumer Finances data.
I have a Ph.D. in economics from MIT, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and physics from Emory University.
