-Social Justice Standard: Identity: Flipgrid---
Scenario 1: In the story Joi’ shares her family photo on a church camping trip. She shares her role as a big sister to help her parents to take care of her little brother. Almost in all the developing countries this concept, where the elder take care of the younger, is very common. I also grew up in the same scenario. Thus, I find the following Justice anchor standards (Identity domain) are demonstrated in Joi’s scenario:
ID.1. develop positive social identities based on their membership in multiple groups in society;
Scenario 2: Omar and Patrick are talking about Hijab, a cloth put on the head in the Muslim community. Omar explained that Hijab represents humbleness, modesty, and love for God. Just to add, the way of explaining covering the head and face in different cultures and races are different. Indian “Hindu” women wrap/cover a scrap/sari on their head and sometimes on the face, to hide from elders and show respect to them. In the conversation between Omar and Peter following ID are used:
ID.5. recognize traits of the dominant culture, their home culture and other cultures and understand how they negotiate their own identity in multiple spaces;
Scenario 3: The teacher advises his student Patrick that you can be you even if you are friends with someone from another religion. Having knowledge and awareness of other religions is good. The following IDs are possibly used in this scenario
ID.1. develop positive social identities based on their membership in multiple groups in society;
ID.4. express pride, confidence, and healthy self-esteem without denying the value and dignity of other people;
Scenario 4: Rebecca talks about her Great thoughts of being more than one identity like a sister, female, or Spanish speaker. This scenario demonstrates the following IDs
ID.3. recognize that people’s multiple identities interact and create unique and complex individuals;
ID.4. express pride, confidence, and healthy self-esteem without denying the value and dignity of other people;
