Other Information and FAQ:
1. Each year, you will receive a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) that is applied to your January 1 pension check. The COLA is based on 80% of the change between the CPI-U from October to October of each year. There is a minimum 1.5% increase and a maximum of 3% increase.
2. If you made contributions to the Plan while you were an active employee, you may see on your check statement a line that says "EECONT". This stands for Employee Contribution and represents the non-taxable refunded portion of your contributions.
3. You can change your taxes any time by contacting NEA at the numbers to the left or by visiting MyPenPay.
4. If you move or change banks, you need to contact NEA immediately so that we can update your records. You can fill out a form under Retiree Forms and send/fax it into NEA as well with the changes. If you are receiving a hard check and you do not receive it at the beginning of the month, a new check will not be issued until the 10th day of the month. We strongly suggest you set up a Direct Deposit.
5. All checks are paid out of State Street Bank in Boston, MA. You can contact StateStreet if you need a copy of your statement or 1099. All other changes should come through NEA at the address above.
6. All changes (tax, address, electronic fund transfer) need to be received by the NEA before the 2nd week of the month to ensure that they apply to the next months pension check.
