Virtual Show and Tell of Neapolitan Members Art
This is a way for our members to "Show and Tell" during the Covid crisis.

Jo-Ann Carroll's tribute to Kristi.                           Judy Winterhalter - Toilet Paper Earrings

Judy Winterhalter - Tiny Pod from size 11 Delicas.  Snowglobe - Both the pod and globe are from Facebook participation groups.  I discovered Victoria Sampler had a "Stitch-along" and I got hooked on creating a snow globe.
Everyone used whatever colors they wanted out of their stash and we all changed the pattern around to what we liked.  Here is my version.  The neat thing about these Facebook groups participation projects is that they give you only part of the project daily or weekly and leave it up to you to design and create your own version.
Chris Zogus - Spider Lily                                           Chris Zogus - Peonies
Technique Japanese Embroidery                              Stitching up a storm.  Saw this years ago, brought it, put it on
Designer - Margaret Kinsey                                                      stretch bars and then got into Japanese.  During Irma, I stayed
with Helen Crombe and her completed piece WOWED me.  So
while packing, found the piece and decided to tackle it.  First time                                                                                                    for Blackwork.  Design by Carol Algie Higginbotham

Judy Winterhalter -
During this stay-at-home time, I finished a beaded piece taught to the Neapolitan Chapter in February called Turkish Delight by Barbara Ellis.  It was a challenging project and provided us all with many new beaded rope instructions that we can use in the future.  Barbara is a great teacher who gives each student individual attention as needed.  So glad I had the opportunity to make this "duel-strand infinity-style necklace".

Chris Zogus - My 2020 ornament.  This one was a challenge.
Designed by Cynthia Hambrick.  Picked it up at EGA seminar.

Kathy Egan -  A friend of Kathy's asked her to make face masks out of two old Lily Pulitzer dresses of hers.
Kathy made 3 sizes complete  with bendable nose pieces.

Betty Baechle -
This is Ivory Coast color selection for “Turkish Delight”.
Teacher is Barbara Ellis a Neapolitan chapter class.

Suzi Bloemker - I realized by mid March, that people would need to start wearing facemasks, so I did some research on the Internet, decided on fabrics, tested different patterns and started to make masks for family and friends.  I really got consumed by the whole process, and tried to make them like I think they would have been made at a factory.  The same part for each mask at the same time, not the whole mask at one time.  So far I have made 202.  These pictures are of masks for a Cancer Hospital in Oklahoma City that a friend of mine works at.  I made 102 for their patients.  Update - I am now up to 248 masks. 12-23

These are masks for the cancer hospital.

Pictures from recent classes

January 2020 - Deborah Merrick-Wilson, from the Smithsonian, designed a special piece for our Chapter "A Taste of Tudor" - we learned all about the history of Elizabethan Goldwork and had a wonderful time working with gold!

February 2020 - Barbara Ellis, a national teacher/designer of beaded necklaces and many other beaded objects, and our own member, taught a class called "Turkish Delight" which is a combination of necklaces.  Barbara is a wonderful teacher and the ladies learned so much from her.

We are the Neapolitan Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America, and, as such, part of EGA's Sun Region which encompasses all of the Florida chapters and Bermuda.

EGA's Mission: The mission of the Embroiderers' Guild of America is to inspire passion for the needle arts through education and the celebration of its heritage.

     Chapter Outreach
For over a decade members have stitched "Home Sweet Habitat" samplers which are framed and presented to the new owners of Habitat homes at their dedication ceremony.

We did this piece, "Florida Palm",  in a class taught by Gail Sirna
