Classroom Announcements and Updates!
Announcements:
1) If you are chaperoning for our June 3rd field trip to the Potter Park Zoo, please be sure that you have a completed current background check on file in the student office along with your vehicle registration and insurance forms. Thanks!
2) It's that time of the year again! As the temperatures swing around, please be sure that your student has the appropriate outerwear for recess! Thanks!
What We Are Learning in Our Major Subject Areas (Our Objectives)
Bible: Students will review the major concepts of the old Testament and they will apply them to their Spiritual Growth throughout the school year. This review will run for the remainder of the school year.
Math: (5th) Students will know how to classify polygons, triangles, and quadrilaterals, use attributes to describe 2-D figures, and find the volume of prisms.
(6th) Students are reviewing concepts from throughout the school year. Our next and last major assessment is our 7th grade math class placement test, WHICH IS SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 4th.
Science: We are learning about the following topics.
- Adolescence and Puberty involve many physical changes.
- The endocrine system works with the nervous system to stimulate these changes.
- The endocrine system helps to maintain homeostasis, but lifestyle choices also contribute to this balance.
- Diseases can be classified as infectious or non-infectious.
- Infectious diseases are caused by pathogens.
- Genetic, social, and environmental factors affect disease.
- Body systems work together to fight disease.
OUR FINAL PROJECTS FOR THIS UNIT WILL BE DUE THIS FRIDAY, MAY 31st!
Reading: We are continuing to work on our final reading project, called "Read-A-Thon," in which the students are reading novels appropriate for their personal reading levels, and completing an analysis packet for their assigned novels. The project packets are due on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019.
