EDGE Project
Enriching Piano Lessons (2018)
I have been a piano teacher for 7 years, I teach 18 students right now. I was feeling a lack of motivation in myself and my students, so I decided to do something to change that. For my EDGE project, I have created my own personal teaching ‘textbook’ of activities and supplemental music for my students. Music is so wide, and it’s so good for the brain. I wanted my students to enjoy music as much as I do. So I gathered and created lots of new games, activities, lessons and resources.
I started a binder filled with leveled supplemental music, and a binder of dry-erase theory pages. I also created a variety of different games and activities to do during lessons. In addition to those, I found a bunch of free music apps and downloaded them to my phone, which students can play during lessons, they are a very good incentive. These new materials are all organized neatly and easy to access. I use all of them in my lessons regularly now.
