ArtsFUSION (2018-2019)
For the 2018-19 school year I was an ArtsFUSION scholar. I spent 20 hours fall semester observing the art teacher at South Elementary. Spring semester I taught a total of 12 art lessons in 2 different 2nd grade classes. This was an amazing opportunity because I got practice creating and teaching lessons. Art is amazing for kids brain development, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to bring art into the lives of young students.
Cedar City Children's Musical Theatre (2012-Present)
Volunteered at CCCMT, a musical theatre company dedicated to giving all children ages 5-19 a theater experience, regardless of talent or previous work. Worked with one show each summer, with about 50 hours each. In 2015 they started doing mini shows in the school year, for elementary aged children, I did about 20 hours of work per show. Shows included Annie, Beauty and the Beast, Seussical the Musical, Aladdin, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Shrek, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Peter Pan, and Once Upon a Time. Duties included makeup, costuming, props, and helping kids to know what to do and when.
Cedar City Family Support Center (2017-2018)
The family support center offers childcare for families in need, as well as emergency and respite care. As a volunteer, my job is to play with the kids in the nursery, (Aged 1-10 usually) and give them positive role models. We do games, crafts, and activities, and I help to keep an eye on all of them since there can be up to 12. I really enjoy working with kids who come from less than ideal family lives.
North Elementary 4-H (2016-2017)
I volunteered at the 4-H after school program at Cedar North Elementary. I interacted with less privileged children, engaging in physical activities, games, and helping with homework.
Cedar Academy (2017-2018)
Cedar Academy is a private school founded in 2017 designed to give kids a more individualized education. I worked there as a piano instructor, with students aged 8-16. I gave them weekly lessons and held recitals every other month.
FCCLA (2015-2016)
I was in a high school club; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. I did a project with a Girl Scout troop teaching them about healthy snacks and nutrition. I presented this project at a state competition and on 4th place. As a club we did various service projects in our community.
