Research Experience
Wind Turbine Load Simulation under Thunderstorm Downbursts Aug. 2014- May 2019
- Estimated wind turbine loads using NREL FAST and coded in Fortran to input user winds.
- Ran CFD simulations in Linux system using an in-house large-eddy simulation (LES) model built with MATLAB code to generate wind fields.
- Generated storm-related inflow fields for a wind farm in TACC Stampede2 supercomputer using UNIX shell scripting to manage simulation jobs and process data.
- Analyzed the statistics of wind/load data to investigate the remarkable characteristics using MATLAB.
Stability Analysis of a Constrained Shallow Arch Sep. 2007- Jul. 2009
- Modeled a double-hinged arch under concentrated moments with a constraint plate based on Euler beam theory.
- Developed an original modification of energy method to treat the stability problem taking into account the constraints.
- Constructed a computational system in Mathematica to control numerical convergence and conduct the bifurcation analysis of multiple equilibrium solutions.
- Experimental measurements and correlations with theoretical predictions.
Modal and Response Spectrum Analysis of the Chassis Design for a Rack Server 2010- 2011
- Evaluated the anti-vibration ability of a rack server chassis and managed to improve the I/O rate of running hard disk drives.
- Modal and response spectrum analysis by using ANSYS Workbench.
- Verified design changes by experimental measurements.
Theoretical Study and Experimental Design of Phone Acoustics 2012-2013
- Designed an engineering process to improve the mechanical design for acoustic properties of VoIP deskphone products.
- Constructed fundamental equations to calculate acoustic properties of speaker and microphone.
- Set up the entire measurement system in anechoic room and developed programs to deal with sound signals in Labview.
Work Experience
Seismic Imagining Analyst, CGG Inc. Sep. 2019 - Mar. 2021
