We are interested on several topics related to Inorganic, Bioinorganic and Materials Chemistry, Nanomedicine, as well as Nanoscience & Nanotechnology:
Development of simple chemical methods for the synthesis and functionalization of nanomaterials.
Carbon nanostructures (graphene, graphene oxide, carbon nanotubes, carbon black nanoparticles) from waste plastics and biomass.
Thermal decomposition of inorganic compounds for the preparation of nanomaterials.
Nanotoxicology, Nanomedicine and Energy & Environmental application of nanomaterials.
Mesoporous nanomaterials for drug delivery.
Magnetic nanomaterials for drug delivery, diagnostics and medical imaging.
Magnetic nanomaterials for hyperthermia therapy.
Chemical interactions among heavy metals and nanomaterials with biologically relevant biomolecules.
Environmental impact of nanomaterials in water and soil.
Remotion of pollutants in water and soil using mesoporous and magnetic nanomaterials.
We receive funding from several sources (CONACYT, CARBOMEX, Gobierno del Estado de Puebla, UC-MEXUS, ConTex). Currently, we collaborate with colleagues at several institutions in Mexico and around the globe (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, University of Texas at Dallas, University of California at Davis, Bodega Marine Laboratory, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, Texas Christian University, Centro de Investigación Biomédica de Oriente, Hospital Dr. Manuel Gea González, Hospital Infantil de México Federico Gómez, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana).
Several PUBLICATIONS have been produced from our collaborative scientific work.
