If you are looking for your self or if you are looking to guide others, in both cases the below text should be very helpful. (Feel free to reach me at 8149014005 / 8766906664)
VIMP: First make sure that you check the deadlines for application and get ready in prior. You are not required to take a GRE test to apply at Canadian Universities unless really specified, but if you have taken it, then definitely it is complimentary. You might be required to take a TOEFL or IELTS exam and report your score at the time of application. A relatively high score is demanded. Check for the centers, examination fees and deadlines including GRE at links below:

Please request by email an attachment the template/format I used when I was approaching University professors while hunting for PhD. positions, You can make changes accordingly and adapt for your self, (once you decide to go for it). You have to look for graduate studies and target professors from departments of interest. Once the professors is interested, you have to formally apply. If you believe in me, I should warn you that a first time application process can be a long procedure in general.
To search/look for PhD projects you can look for thesis links for example Thesis Link and have a overview about various projects done and then refer to the references so you can have some better ideas. The main objective of any PhD in Canada is usually to produce i) an excellent quality Thesis and ii) at least three (3) good quality journal articles (with average impact), rest all is secondary and tertiary, etc..
I am putting here some links for you, illustrating various graduate programs offered at few renowned Canadian Universities.

It is necessary to understand that if and only if one has access to about 30 to 40 Lakhs (INR) (at min), it could be a good decision to come to Canada as a graduate student in a genuine University and then to get a work permit after completing studies and eventually apply and get the Permanent Residence to continue living in Canada and eventually become a Citizen of Canada. (Ideally for a graduate student its a guaranteed 9 to 10 year process (involving various steps). I see absolutely no risk !! However, if one do not have access to the minimum suggested funds then probably it may not be a suitable way to pursue.
For example:
The overall cost for a 2 years Master program on average will include: i) Fees in CAD 35 K = 15 to 20L INR, ii) Living essential costs in CAD 15 to 20K = 10 to 12L INR, and iii) Other random expenses in CAD = 5 to 10K = 3 to 6L INR. I am sure!! you can make up the total and estimate the potential costs. As per my experience; i) One can reduce her/his/their living expense and other random expenses in many ways. In addition to it, the student can be eligible for partial tuition fee waivers (by applying in prior) and can receive additional funding via means of eligible fellowships, stipends and/or work study programs (again they have to consider it via appropriate application procedures). The exact ranges of total funds that the student can potentially receive is very hard to estimate. Therefore, I am not including those estimates here.
Now lets assume that all above suited you. You were admitted to a reputed Canadian University for a the MS Program(of your choice), then here is the realistic time line to achieve your milestones:
Masters in 1-2 years --> Work permit issued for 1-3 years---> Eligible to apply for PR (after 1 year of Work XP) ---> Receive your PR (within 2 years after application) --> Receive your Canadian Citizenship (4.5 to 5 years after getting the PR).
Sep 2021-2023 -------> 2022-2025 -------> 2023-2024 -------> 2024-2025 -------> min 2030 on-wards or after
I am glad if you found a University and applied to it by your self. If you haven't yet, then in my opinion, it's logical to apply to several (lets say 4 to 5) Universities across Canada. You can also include a Quebec based University (e.g. Concordia University in Montreal).
Lets assume that you were admitted in a Quebec based University, then regarding lodging and boarding, (if one lives out of campus), my personal experience says a single person may require about $700 to 850/month and a family of 2 to 3 (with spouse and child) may require about $1000-1300/month. This declared cost here assumes that you are buying grocery and cooking at home, where upper ranges, includes phone, internet and other random costs on monthly basis. It may be clear that one can certainly minimise the cost, if he/she shares his/her accommodation, buys grocery from cheap sources, and eats/drinks (tea, cofffee, etc) seldom outside or doesn't take cell phone and/or internet service....etc...but this strategy is not advisable and in my opinion it would be advisable of working and earning money via available means e.g work study/scholarships/fellowships/ etc....and only once you complete two semesters (i.e. around eight(8) months of your study). For family students, if your spouse comes with you he/she can legally work, earn and support as well.

Last and not least:

I agree that, the example set above should help to those only who applied for PR only to them who plans to land in the city of Halifax, NS, Canada. However it can be generalized to all types of potential new comers by using few simple steps as followed:
Google Search/Google Maps can be the simplest way to search for anything.
Simply type three(3) consecutive words (mantras) as followed:
'keyword'
' , '
'areas postal code
For e.g. :
employment agency, B3H 4R2
primary schools, B3H 4R2
Observation(s):
-You still have a Question?
-Ahhaan!!! I know what it is. How to get postal codes? wasn't it?
-Very simple again google, choose some ground reference places like; Schools, Universities, Companies.
-Again doesn't really matter if u know or do not, just google for it's/their contact details
==================================================================================================================================
Congratulations !!!!
Now ! On-wards !!!
You will help your self and many other new comers !!!
