Breeding period analysis of Mysore birds

Observations on breeding activity of local birds is tabulated and compared with data in Ali & Ripley’s Handbook. Local birds are from Mysore Area consisting of Mysore, Mandya & Chamarajanagar District excluding Tiger Reserves, National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries.

Here, the Bird breeding period is inclusive of- courtship comprising singing, visual display, aerobic display and dancing, adults preening one another’s feather, male feeding female; nest building, mating, claiming and defending territory, incubating, taking care of chicks and juveniles. Almost two decades data is transformed into table for easy comparison.
