To get the most out of this website, do the following:
1. Before you watch a video, find paper and pencil. It's better if you have a notebook exclusively to use with this website.
2. Write the title of the song and artist of a new page.
3. Watch the video first without reading the lyrics. Have a piece of paper next to you to jot down as many Spanish words as you can get.
4. Scroll down and compare your list of words with the lyrics. Put a check mark next to the ones you got right, and cross out the rest.
5. Keep track of your progress by writing the number of words you got right on every practice you do.
6. Play the song again, but now follow the lyrics. Try to focus on the pronunciation.
7. After you listen to the song for the second time, read the lyrics and try to get the overall meaning of the song. Sometimes the video clip may help.
8. Write down your thoughts, and then use the dictionary provided to understand the lyrics in more depth. How close were you to the meaning of the song? Give
yourself a number from 1 through 10, with 10 being a perfect score if you guessed correctly!
9. Keep a list of the new words you had to look up. Check later with your teacher (if possible) to make sure the words match the meanings. Although the translator
is handy, sometimes it does not understand the context of a word like humans do!
10. Once you are familiar with the song and the lyrics...Sing along! This is the best part to help the vocabulary stay in your long-term memory!
11. Find out more about the artists whenever possible. It will help you expand your cultural understanding about a specific type of music or artist.
12. Keep practicing!
¡Buena suerte! (Good Luck!)
