Select World Music
Select American Music and Jazz for Music of Native Americans and Music of Black America
Music 222: Click on "Cultural Groups" (or "Places) under World Music
Select your choice of "Cultural Groups" and click on the plus to the left to open up the audio files.
Click on the cultural group or country you want to explore.
Locate one album and listen to several music tracks. (Scroll down on the right to view all the tracks.)
Click on a favorite track and listen carefully as you take notes.
Analyze the music and discuss how the various elements of music are used in each track.
Click on the details tab on the right window to locate more information.
On most of the music CDs, you will see a third tab for related details. This will include a pdf of liner notes that you can download. These will often give you much more detail about the music, musicians, styles, instruments, significance of the music. This would be very helpful as you plan your ethnographic research.
Select one music track to report on in your journal.
Click on "Embed/Link" and save the http:// URL link and/or the iframe embed code.
Include the URL link or embed the music into your journal entry textbox.
