Why The Purple Sheep?

You might have noticed there's a lot of purple sheep around the place, what have sheep got to do with caving and why is it purple? These are all very good questions.

We have a purple sheep as our mascot, as a group of our members once helped rescue a sheep who had lost its way and found itself stuck at a bottom of a cave. They managed (after a bit of a struggle) to get a harness on the sheep and lift it up to safety. It's purple because purple is one of the University's colours, and obviously the best colour of them all!

Tilly has since become an integral member of the club and has consequently been on many adventures!

If you have a keen eye you might also notice our beloved Tilly is missing a leg. It is said that she was kidnapped and held hostage by another society and during her time she was tortured, she was put in a microwave and one of her front legs removed. But Tilly is a fighter and is now sporting a lovely prosthetic leg lovingly made by one of our own.
