Look for the email with your clinical assignment. Look over the "Phases in Periop"

Do a web search regarding your patients surgery. It might help to look up your surgeon. 

What kind of kids have this surgery? Do you know all of your acronyms?

Why would this child have this procedure? What were their symptoms?

What will change after this surgery is completed?

Is there a picture to help you?

Thinking as a nurse, what is your top priority? What are you concerned about?

How old is your patient? What kind of a conversation are you going to be having with them?

What are the concerns that the day surgery nurse have?

What does the OR staff need to be prepared?

After surgery what is your nursing concern? Interventions?
