NEW INFO!! How do pseudonyms work? When using a pseudonym to submit any work, whether that be poetry or serial submissions, the editors must know your real name. The precedent for poetry and serial submissions is that they are all eligible for publishment in the issues, with your real name and no pseudonym attached unless specified otherwise. You must reach out to us if you do not want something to be published in an issue. Your name must be included with your pseudonym on the actual doc of your poem or serial every time that you submit if you are okay with that poem/serial being published. Editors will then remove your name so that Soliloquy can give feedback on it during the meeting and then use just your real name in the published issue. If you never want anything to be published in an issue, you do not need to put your real name on the doc, but we still must know who is behind the pseudonym (that can be specified in an email). Please contact the editors at mthssoliloquy@gmail.com with any questions!Â
What can I submit? Pretty much anything! Poems, short stories, screenplays, photographs, music, lyrics, paintings, sketches, 3-dimensional art, anything as long as it's created by you!
Please keep in mind that submissions containing profanity or vulgarity will not be published. Making a submission qualifies it for publishing within an issue-- reach out if a submission should not be published!
All submissions to Soliloquy are anonymous.
How do I submit? Email your work to mthssoliloquy@gmail.com. Make sure you enable link sharing ('Anyone with the link' setting) and grant the Soliloquy email editing access- without this, we will be unable to remove your name that you've put along with your pseudonym, and until we can do that, it in ineligible to be read during the meeting.
Then what happens? The following Tuesday afternoon, Soliloquy will read/look at your submission and provide feedback (what we loved, what we didn't like as much, and advice on how to improve). All work will receive a feedback email containing what was discussed about your piece during the meeting.
What happens if Soliloquy likes your work? Soliloquy publishes an issue mid-school year and at the end of the school year with our favorite works! Copies of past final issues and mini-issues can be found in Mr. Earley's room (260).
Submissions must be put in a Google Doc or PDF and be accessible to the editors to be viable for the meetings and website. This is to streamline communication for us, so please be patient!
The deadline to submit works is the Monday night before the meeting. Any submissions made on the day of the meeting will be pushed to the following meeting.
We also would like to note that while we may critique submissions made through other students (that are credited) if the original author is not a current student at Manheim Township High School it is ineligible for publication.
Thank you very much for your continued support of Soliloquy!
