  • Amazon Donates to MTMB!
MTMBB recently signed-on with Amazon Smile, a simple and automatic way for you to support the students of the Manheim Township Marching Band every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same prices, selection and shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate .5% of the purchase price to the band! Tens of millions of products on AmazonSmile are eligible for donations. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages.

To shop at AmazonSmile simply go to smile.amazon.com from the web browser on your computer or mobile device. On your first visit to AmazonSmile you will need to select “Manheim Township Marching Band Boosters” as the charitable organization to have Amazon make their donations from eligible purchases to our band (do this before you begin shopping). Amazon will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make after that will result in a donation for our students.

Thanks very much everyone! Please let Brian Dombach, President, know if you have any questions.

  • Losing a dear friend...
The Manheim Township Band Program lost a dear friend last week with the passing of Mr. Miles J. Shaeffer (Click here to read his obituary courtesy of Lancaster Online). A graduate of Manheim Township in 1984, Miles was a four year member of the marching band, performing in the percussion section and serving as drum major in his senior year. He joined the band staff in 1988, and worked with the band through four band directors, concluding his tenure in 2011 after 28 years of service (4 as member, 24 as staff), providing commendable mentorship and leadership to the organization.

Miles, who the staff fondly referred to as "Smiles", contributed an infinite amount to our program over the years, priding himself on teaching the “life lessons” and believing in the organization wholeheartedly as the best “character education” an MTHS student could receive. While brought onto staff with a focus on percussion, it was very common to see Miles working with wind and color guard members on any given rehearsal; Miles was the consummate “total” staff member...identifying a need and jumping right in to help students improve without being given any direction to do so. The current student leadership and band staff model is based around the standard Miles set during his time with the program.

Miles will be greatly missed, and the MT band organization extends our sincerest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers to his immediate and extended family as well as his caring friends during this difficult time.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, February 6th at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory (3110 Lititz Pike.) A second viewing will be held from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Church of the Apostles U.C.C. (1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster) on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 with The Rev. Kathryn L. Kuhn officiating. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions to defray the funeral costs may be made out to and sent to the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory (3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.)
