Helpful Websites

The Khan Academy is an excellent source of tutorial video examples for everything from basic arithmetic to algebra.

his is a site that was created to help you learn how to add, subtract, multiply, & divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. There are some useful pencast videos on this page.

YouTube Is a site where people can post videos for others to watch. Many teachers have posted video examples of how to solve various kinds of mathematical problems. If you would like to try to find a video of a particular topic, just type that topic into the search box at the top of the screen and press the search button. You do need to understand that anyone can post videos to YouTube. Make sure that the video examples you watch on YouTube seem to follow the examples in your textbook. Its rare, but I have found incorrectly worked out examples on YouTube.

This is a website I build to help students pass a basic skills test which is no longer a part of this course. It is useful though, for brushing up on any basic skills you might need to review and includes information on adding, subtarcting, multiplying and dividing; whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and integers. It also contains information on basic algebraic equation.

Math Words is a mathematical dictionary that often gives examples or diagrams to help explain the meaning of a word or term. Its a great resource to accompany your textbook. If you don't know what a word means I'd check here first.

This is a web-based program that will walk you through the steps of an order of operations problem. Its a great program to use if you get stuck on an order of operation problem. Make sure you use the valid characters for each operation listed at the bottom of the window.

A page which explains the process of prime factorization. Prime factorization is useful when working with fractions or when factoring out the greater common factor from a polynomial.

This website explains how to use divisibility rules for numbers 2 through 12. Divisibility rules are useful when reducing fractions or factoring polynomials.
