July 20 to 23, 2015: 4-day MTC Workshop, Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4pm each day. Held at Clarke University. Sessions led by Amanda Matson and Jonas Meyer, with guest presenter Todd Velde. Much of the source material is available at the Resources and Links page linked above.
September 8, 2015: 5:00-7:30pm at Clarke University: Our first Dubuque Math Teachers' Circle session of the Fall.
October 13, 2015: 5:00-7:30pm at Clarke University: Our second meeting of the fall featured guest presenter Susan Crook (Asst. Prof. of Mathematics at Loras College) leading exploration of Happy Numbers, and started off with the game Prime Climb.
November 10, 5:00-7:30pm at Clarke University in room LTC 2, basement of the library. Our third Math Teachers' Circle meeting was led by Amanda Matson, including exploration of geometric constructions with straightedge and compass. We opened with the game Sumoku.
December 8, 5-7:30pm. Topics: The game Equate, Math of voting and elections.
January 12, 2016, 5-7:30pm at Clarke University. Topic: Math and Music, with guest presenter Angie Kohlhaas (Asst. Prof. of Mathematics at Loras College)
Abstract: You may have heard that math and music go hand in hand. Why is that? I would argue that both are fundamentally about understanding patterns. In this teachers’ circle, we will use mathematical concepts to identify and create some of the patterns we hear (and see) in music.

Abstract: Dr. Willis will introduce some of the problems and strategies that are discussed in Mark Driscoll's book "Fostering Algebraic Thinking: A Guide for Teachers Grades 6-10."

This session was led by guest Deron Muehring, Civil Engineer with the City of Dubuque, who for the last few years has worked on the Bee Branch Watershed Flood Mitigation Project.

This session was led by Amanda Matson and Jonas Meyer on sums of consecutive integers, sums of consecutive cubes, evens, odds, and more.

September 8, 2016, 5-7:30pm at Loras College. Our first evening session of the 2016-2017 academic year. The featured game was On the Line. Main session facilitated by Amanda Matson on the pancake flipping problem.
October 13, 2016, 5-7:30pm at Loras College. In our second evening session of the academic year, our guest Matt Rissler (Assoc Prof of Math at Loras College) led a session on the math of voting, including weighted voting systems and the electoral college.
Thursday, November 10, 2016, 5:00-7:30pm, at Loras College. Our third evening session of the 2016-2017 academic year, featuring Qwirkle, with main session facilitated by Jonas Meyer on parity and pigeonhole principle problems.
Thursday, December 8, 2016, 5:00-7:30pm, at Loras College, room 334 Keane Hall. Chandra Ravada was our guest from the East Central Intergovernmental Association. Chandra is the Director of the Transportation Department and led a discussion on the types of problems he considers, including the importance of mathematical thinking. Our featured game was On the Dot.
Thursday, January 12, 2017, 5:00-7:30pm, at Loras College, room 334 Keane Hall. Our first session of the new year included mathematical analysis of the game On the Dot facilitated by Jonas Meyer.
Thursday, February 9, 2017, 5:00-7:30pm, at Loras College, room 333 Keane Hall. Our guest facilitator was Judy Munshower, Professor of Mathematics at Clarke University, who introduced several games to be analyzed.
Thursday, March 9, 2017, 5:00-7:30pm, at Loras College, room 333 Keane Hall. Our March session was led by Amanda Matson, Associate Professor of Mathematics at Clarke University. The topic was "Happy and Unhappy Shapes," with hands-on activities and computer simulation based on "Parable of the Polygons" by Vi Hart and Nicki Case.
