Dr. Madhu S. Nair is currently working as Professor at the Artificial Intelligence & Computer Vision Lab, Department of Computer Science, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). He received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Applications (B.C.A.) from Mahatma Gandhi University with First Rank in the year 2000, Masters Degree in Computer Applications (M.C.A.) from Mahatma Gandhi University with First Rank in the year 2003, and Masters Degree in Technology (M.Tech.) in Computer Science (with specialization in Digital Image Computing) from University of Kerala with First Rank in the year 2008. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science (Image Processing) from Mahatma Gandhi University in the year 2013. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Client Server Computing (PGDCSC) from Amrita Institute of Computer Technology. He had also qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lectureship conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in the year 2004 and the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the year 2006. He has published 130 research papers in reputed International Journals and Conference Proceedings published by IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, IOS Press, etc. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Associate Life Member of Computer Society of India (CSI), and Member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG).

He is a recipient of prestigious awards such as DRDO Academy Excellence Award, AICTE Visvesvaraya Best Teacher Award, Kairali Gaveshana Puraskaram of Govt. of Kerala, Swami Vivekananda Yuva Prathibha Puraskaram of Govt. of Kerala, CSI Best Faculty of the Year Award, Best Thesis Supervisor Award from IEEE Communications Society, IETE Smt. Manorama Rathore Memorial Award, CSI Distinguished Assistant Professor Award, SSI Young Systems Scientist Award, IEI Young Engineers Award, AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers (CAYT), CSI Paper Presenter Award at International Conference, INAE Innovative Student Projects Award for the Best M.Tech Thesis, AICTE Travel Grant Award, Most Active Editorial Board Member/Reviewer Award from International Arab Journal of Information Technology (IAJIT) and Best Paper Award during International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications (ACC 2011). He has also received Most Prominent Alumni Award from M.E.S. College, Aluva, Computer Science Alumni Association Award for securing First Rank in MTech, Students Union Award for securing First Rank in MCA, Gold Medal for securing First Rank in BCA. He is serving as a reviewer for around 64 International Journals published by IEEE, ACM, Nature, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, World-Scientific, Taylor & Francis, etc., and also served as Technical Programme Committee Member/Reviewer for several reputed National/International Conferences. He served as the Associate Editor of the prestigious IEEE Access Journal and also served as the Editorial Board Member of the International Arab Journal of Information Technology (IAJIT). He was a Member of the Board of Studies (PG), Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), Kochi,  Member, Board of Studies (PG), University of Kerala, Member, Board of Studies (PG), University of Calicut, and Member, Board of Studies (UG), University of Kerala. His research interests include Digital Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision, Data Compression, Soft Computing, and Scientometrics.
