New for 2014-15
Middle grades students will NOT be tested on both an FSA Mathematics and an EOC mathematics assessment. In accordance with Section 1008.22(3)(b)1., F.S., "Middle grades students enrolled in Algebra I, Geometry, or Biology I must take the statewide, standardized EOC assessment for those courses and shall not take the corresponding subject and grade-level statewide, standardized assessment."
Legislators probably didn't anticipate a scenario where middle school students would take a high school senior level course like Algebra 2 (which has an EOC mathematics assessment also), but the intent of the legislation is to prevent double-testing in a core subject so it's a pretty safe assumption that none of our 8th grade students will take the 2014-15 Grade 8 FSA Mathematics assessment.
I will, however, pose the question to our district specialist for confirmation. The EOC testing window for mathematics opens on Monday, April 20, 2015 and closes on Friday, May 15, 2015.
I will update this page as new information is made available from the state, district, and school-based testing coordinators.
