VISION, MISSION AND GOALS "Race To The Top" will be the philosophy used for my mission of helping school districts reorganize, restructure and rethink their educational goals. The continued challenge of adapting these goals means implementing a change with new, innovative and highly creative methods which are linked directly to a newly enriched focus on student improvement and success.
The Learning Standard for each state is a directory of the types of objectives necessary to meet the high expectations of the state for each subject category. My goal will be to assist the district’s with making sure their curriculum is linked directly to that State’s standard. The methods used are scientifically researched based initiatives proven to be essential building blocks to achieve excellence for all. My methods focus on five essential components of effective reading instruction. These priorities are the following:
- Phonemic awareness
- Fluency
- Phonics
- Vocabulary
- Comprehension
This scientifically based reading research for teachers will be used as a guidepost to helping design and implement a program and curricula.
Workshop participants learn how to maintain a "learning place" which will foster high, clearly defined goals, a shared vision and an effective team mission. Open, honest communication will be the key to continuous progress, therefore, every effort will be made to work cooperatively with teachers, parents, students and administration.
Teaming will be encouraged. The task of the leadership team will be to build a community through literacy. The goals will be to stimulate attitudes of positive performance which will allow each child to achieve their fullest potential; to expose the students to a broad bank of knowledge through research and theory in order to spark their interest for education; and to prepare them with the skills which will allow them to process the wealth of information needed to assure them the ability to read on level by third grade.
As a community of learners, participants will pledge themselves to excellence and strive to be a stakeholder contributing towards becoming the best performing school district; participants will begin with the end in mind and accept nothing but the best from their school community and deliver nothing but the best of themselves. The focus of the training will strive to uphold the district’s mission.
