Chapter 4 song
Emily and Mahnoor

Trading in the colonies
Things that go to England
‘cross the ocean big
But we can’t do nothing
Mercantilism, salutary neglect
Resources shipped and made daily
Contribute to their profit
0:33
Policies in 18th century benefit Great Britain
Navigation acts aiding the merchants every now and then
Money there anywhere, the poor lax trade laws
Satisfied colonists and not a complaint at all now
1:02
41 males signed November 1620
They thought of self-governing since the start
House of Burgesses
Established 1619
Economic quake
Bring on the laws now
Share power with the governor, making laws
Practice representatives
Have a voice in what goes on
A voice in what goes on
Montesquieu and Locke all believe in equality for us
All colonists have natural rights to obtain from them
By the way, right away you’ll change how we’re run
I didn’t know that I have rights ‘til i heard of it
CHAPTER 3 SONG (by Natalie, Kristen, Eric, Nafiu, Carinna, and Zunnara)
You gotta know, know, know, know
New England's our home, home, home, home
We're lovin' it so, so, so, so
The way we love the colonies, oh
You gotta know, know, know, know
New England's our home, home, home, home
We're lovin' it so, so, so, so
The way we love the colonies, oh
You gotta know
Religion (religion)
And the more I'm taught the more free I feel
Oh no, no I can't take it
Baby, every place I go wanna plant crops
Do you wanna fish with me?
Do you wanna farm with me?
It's so better now we're not in Great Britain
The winters are long and strange
And the farming's poor sometimes
But are you happy now?
But are you happy now?
You gotta know, know, know, know
The Middle Colonies' home, home, home, home
We're lovin' it so, so, so, so
The way we love the colonies, oh
You gotta know, know, know, know
The Middle Colonies' home, home, home, home
We're lovin' it so, so, so, so
The way we the colonies, oh
You gotta know
And every time I go out to pray
I hear it from this one, I hear it from that one
Glad you got some new jobs, yeah
I see but don't believe it
Even in my head I'm still Britain
Now I'm just a farmer
Do they think of me?
Of what we used to be?
Is it better than we started new lives now?
We came here for good farms
And also great new jobs
But are you happy now?
But are you happy now?
You gotta know, know, know, know
The Southern Colonies' home, home, home, home
We're lovin' it so, so, so, so
The way we love the colonies, oh
You gotta know, know, know, know
The Southern Colonies' home, home, home, home
We're lovin' it so, so, so, so
The way we the colonies, oh
You gotta know
No more danger
No more prejudice going around the streets
No more tryin' hurt me cause of my religion
You just knew I'd leave Britain to get that gold, oh
Do he do you like this, do they protect you like this?
Do he lay it down for you, treat you fairly like this?
Matter fact, never mind, we'll let the past be
Maybe they got the King, but the rich one's me, woah
You gotta know, know, know, know
These are our homes, homes, homes, homes
We're lovin' them so, so, so, so
The way we love the colonies, oh
You gotta know, know, know, know
These are our homes, homes, homes, homes
We're lovin' it so, so, so, so
The way we the colonies, oh
You gotta know, know, know, know
These are our homes, homes, homes, homes
We're lovin' them so, so, so, so
The way we love the colonies, oh
Now that you know, know, know, know
These are our homes, homes, homes, homes
And we love them so, so, so, so
Do you love the colonies? Oh
You gotta know
Now this is a story all about how
My life got flipped- turned upside down
And I’d like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I’ll tell you how I became a patriot of a town near Delaware
In North America born and raised
On the war field where I spent most of my days
Lookin’ out and watchin’ them all duel
Against the French when we were going to school
When many of our men were up to no good
Started picking fights in my neighborhood
I tried to fight the French and my mom got scared
She said, “You need to go to the army in the town near Delaware”.
Our king hoped for French land, day after day
He longed to tell them so and sent a party on it’s way
Yet the French had said no, turning us back home
The king then got angry saying we must have that biome.
Most Iroquois left us lone
Making victory for us as hard as stone
But the war had cost much and they started taxing us
Which in turn caused a ruckus.
First that were passed were the Stamp and Quartering Acts
Then came the Tea and Coercive Acts, our lips we smacked
We hated them yes
Oh we did very much
So we decided to add our own little touch
We chose to boycott in our great anger
The Boston Tea Party was part of our labor
And then of course the Boston Massacre
All of our trust
Lost with a single shot suddenly fired at us
The Loyalists disagreed with us of course
A Captain saying we attacked, a distrustful source
Then came the battle of Lexington and Concord
The boom of the cannons
The clash of our swords
The Albany Plan of Union proposed
To create a unified government they supposed
The king was mistaken
Limiting land and glee
In the Proclamation of 1763
his Is What You Came For
(Roots of the American People)
Culture is lifestyle or traditions
It can be the way they dress or how they live
There were three civilizations that were key
to making a great America
These three were the Maya, Aztec and Inca
They all built civilizations in Mexico
And in America many years ago
go, oh, oh
go, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
go, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
go, oh, oh
Oh, oh
Mayans built large plazas and pyramids
Their language developed arts and government
Aztecs, built grand capital cities
In today’s Mexico City
Incas, wore gold and silver jewelry
The civilizations had a lot in common
They were the largest civilizations in that time
time , oh, oh
time, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
time, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh
time, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
time, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
time, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh
(Jacob) These civilizations had strange holy-orders
Their massive cities had massive borders
Aztecs believed in sacrificial offerings
They found anyone who aren’t with them bothering
Incas had many distinct races
They fought hand-to-hand with those with disgusting faces
Mayans were known for building on lowland ridges
All this happened because of the theory of the Land Bridge
Siberians, this is what you came for
They crossed land bridges long ago
And animals they were watching
So they came to America, ah, oh
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
oh oh, oh
oh, oh
(Andrew and Jacob) Merica!, oh, oh you, oh, oh
oh, oh, oh you, oh, oh
oh, oh, oh you, oh, oh
oh, oh
(Andrew) Europeans wanted to connect with the East
They wanted trade goods to start a great feast
They had coastlines that were used to explore the West
Before the other nation could be the best
They wanted better trade routes
This was the Age of Exploration’s early roots
Prince Henry was a leader
He provided leadership to the people
This was when Exploration began
He had skills that allowed him
To be a great leader
oh, oh, , oh, oh, you, oh, oh
Er, oh, oh, you, oh, oh
You, oh, oh
Oh, oh
Er , oh, oh, you, oh, oh
Er, oh, oh, you, oh, oh
Er, oh, oh, you, oh, oh
