About Me

My bachelor's degree was received at Central Michigan Univeristy. I graduated in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science in Education. My major was mathematics, and my minor was language arts. While attending CMU, I was on the Dean's List and President's List. I earned the Board of Trustees Academics Scholarship, the State of Michigan Competitive Scholarship, and the George and Ernestine Lauer Mathematics Scholarship. I was a member of Golden Key International Honour Society, Mortar Board National Honor Society, and Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Teaching Fraternity. I graduated Cum Laude. I earned my master's degree in educational technology from CSUN in May 2017.

In my spare time, I enjoy crafting, painting, reading, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and being active. I love the outdoors, so anything that gets me fresh air is enjoyable, like hiking, running, biking, rollerblading, etc.

My educational philosophy is based on the foundation that all students learn. It is my responsibility as an educator to ensure that each and every one of my students is motivated and inspired to learn. I employ a multitude of teaching styles and strategies in order to reach all of the different types of learners in my classroom. In order to ensure a proper learning environment, I am a firm believer in making sure that a classroom runs smoothly. Students value organization and order, so it is vital to maintain a high level of classroom management. Through practice and routine, learning will be fostered in an environment where consistency is maintained. In my classroom, I also employ a variety of methods to peak student engagement. If students are engaged in the learning process and actively learning, they are more likely to succeed. Through professional development and personal research, I continue to engage my students and keep them excited about their education. I also strive to be a role model for my students. I want to inspire my students to be lifelong learners, so I myself am on a quest to continue learning every day, every month, every year.

I am originally from Michigan. I was born in Detroit and grew up in a small city called Fraser. I come from a huge blended family. I have 7 siblings comprised of 2 sisters, 1 half-brother, 3 step-brothers, and 1 step-sister. Growing up in Michigan, I enjoyed snow skiing, ice skating, and hockey. Growing up in my family, we always had animals. I have carried my love for animals into adulthood and now have many pets myself. I call it my managerie of pets. I have 2 dogs, a turtle, many fish, and hermit crabs. I enjoy keeping pets in the classroom. I find that my students really enjoy it as well. Along with my many pets, I currently reside with my longtime sweetheart, Ryan. He is also from Michigan. We have been together since 2004 and got married on October 24, 2015. We had our first child on May 12, 2017. His name is Landon, and he is the cutest little man ever (according to his mommy)!!! We just recently had our second child, Cameron, on June 30, 2021, and she is the cutest little lady ever!!!
