This course is designed to cover the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Geometry and prepare students to take the WA State exam (SBAC) in the spring of a student's sophomore year. Mr. Nelson uses materials from 3 sources:
1) Math Medic: Daily lessons, activities, notes, and assignments.
2) Big Ideas Math: Publisher of our textbook and online assignments.
3) geometrycommoncore.com (a web site developed and maintained by Mike Patterson, a nationally recognized mathematics teacher): Projects and introduction to Geometry materials/videos.
Mr. Nelson organizes his Geometry courses around the following units: Basics of Geometry, Congruence Transformations, Triangles & Proofs, Quadrilaterals & Other Polygons, Similarity, Special Right Triangles & Trigonometry, and Circles. If extended time is available, we'll cover some Probability.

Materials needed for this course: straight edge (ruler with both in and cm units), protractor, compass, graph paper, QR reader app for your mobile device, and scientific or graphing calculator (TI-83, TI-84, or TI-nspire).
