Geometry

A little bit about this class: In Geometry, we will study the properties and applications of different geometric figures. We will also focus on applying the eight mathematical practices in a way that will develop our ability to think precisely, critically, and logically.

What we will cover: Our units are as follows:

  1. Coordinate Geometry
  2. Rigid Transformations
  3. Conic Sections
  4. Congruent Triangles
  5. Constructions
  6. Geometric Relationships and Properties
  7. Similarity
  8. Trigonometry
  9. Circles
  10. Geometric Measurement and Dimension
  11. Probability

Grading: The grading policy at NHCS is as follows:

  • 15% Homework (graded for completion every day)
  • 15% Homework (graded for accuracy at least once per week)
  • 20% Classwork
  • 25% Quizzes (given every Thursday)
  • 25% Tests or Projects

Revision Policy: Revision is a natural part of learning. For this reason, most assignments may be redone in order to improve a grade. I will always give advance notice as well as the reason why if revision is not possible for a specific assignment.

Homework: It is essential that you are practicing the topics we are learning in class. This can be a challenging class, and it will be extremely difficult to succeed if you don't do your homework. I try to keep all assignments short, and I will not assign anything that doesn't specifically help you practice a necessary skill for class. It is highly recommended that you come in for extra help if you are struggling with your homework.

Extra Help: I am available most days after school, and will always give advance notice on days I can't be here. Please do not hesitate to get help - you deserve to succeed and be the best that you can possibly be.
