My CEA Presentation is now posted in two parts(see attachments below). For those who attended my CEA seminar on smartboards, I was unable to cover all of the areas that I had hoped. Here are some additional ideas:
Start class each day with a "This day in history", a bible verse of the day, a joke of the day, a historical person of the day, a landmark of the day, a question of the day (see February example below).
You can review social studies material in a weekly challenge between other classes (see History Challenge example below).
Here are some links that I find helpful:
www.purposegames.com This is a great website for learning the countries of the world
www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/ The CIA World Factbook has tons of great statistics on every country of the world (great for making comparisons for Geography).
http://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi Most of my images come from doing Google Image searches.
http://bigthink.com/blogs/strange-maps This site has some interesting and unusual maps that are great for getting students thinking.
http://www.theartofbattle.com/ This site has wonderful battle animations that break down a battle and make it interesting and engaging.
http://www.loc.gov/index.html The Library of Congress has an enormous amount of information. It can be difficult to sift through it all which is why most of the time I prefer doing a Google Image search.
Feel free to leave ideas of your own in the comment section at the bottom.
