On Friday, November 20, 2015 Women in Capital Markets (WCM) will be hosting its fourth annual SheBiz - an all-day interactive conference where young women in grades 9-11 will have unique access to business leaders, business topics, and exposure to numerous and existing career opportunities available to women in business.
The free day-long event will feature guest speakers from a variety of industries as well an interactive trading game and case activity for the students. This year, the event will host up to 500 students from a variety of schools across the GTA.
In its first year under WCM, SheBiz hosted 200 students and teachers, and just two years later, capacity has been increased by 62% due to overwhelming demand. Along with the increased size and scope of SheBiz since moving under WCM, the event has been offered free of charge every year to all attendees thanks to the generosity of WCM and its sponsors.
Putting Different Career Opportunities on the Radar for Young Women
SheBiz exposes young women to a wide range of business careers and female role models and business leaders who are passionate about their industries. The objective of SheBiz is to encourage more young women to pursue careers in business. Given the age of the participants, the expectation is not that each young woman leaves the event knowing exactly what she wants to do after high school and hopefully university. Rather, the hope is that participants gain a perspective on the myriad of opportunities available to them and that they start to think about what might be an area of interest or a fit for them down the road and how that should shape their current educational choices. SheBiz is strategically aligned with WCM's key objective of increasing women's presence across boardroom tables and in business.
Since we said good-bye at SheBiz last year, we have been busy planning for an even bigger and better event this year. We have made some amazing changes, including increasing our capacity size to 500. This means that you can now bring up to 10 students to SheBiz.
Please save the date for SheBiz - November 20th from 8-3:30pm at the Rotman School of Management. You will be able to register via the WCM website as of October 5th. We will send out a message once registration opens. Please note, SheBiz typically sells out in a matter of days - please register early to avoid disappointment.
Thanks again for supporting SheBiz,
