Answer the following questions:

1) Write a theoretical definitional of a cathode and an anode

2) Indicate whether the following processes occur at the cathode or at the anode of a galvanic cell

a. Reduction half-reaction

b. Oxidation half-reaction

c. Reaction of the SRA

d. Reaction of the SOA

3) What are the characteristics of the solution in a salt bridge? Provide an example

4) For the following cell, use the given cell notation to identify the SRA and SOA. Write chemical equations to represent the cathode, anode, and net cell reactions. Draw a diagram of each cell, labeling the electrodes, electrolytes, direction of electron flow, and direction of ion movement

a. Ag(s) | Ag+(aq) || Zn2+(aq) | Zn(s)

5) Ions move through a porous boundary between the two half-cells of a voltaic cecll. Why does the ions move? In what direction do the cations and anions move?
