Student Recommendation Policy

Introduction

Juniors and seniors are typically required to have high school teachers write college recommendations as part of the college application process.

Ask Mr. Beck

Before you tell your guidance counselor that I will write a recommendation for you, please see me first. There are some (rare) instances where I would not be able to write a recommendation for you based on the following criteria: academic performance, social behaviors, etc.

Before Mr. Beck Writes

You need to tell me more about yourself with the following:

Fill out the student description form as you see yourself.

Resume

Rough draft is fine.

College Essay

Typed, near final draft or better

When you deliver the above documents to me (on paper or electronically) I will put you in the queue (first documents in, first letter out).

After Mr. Beck Writes

After I write a recommendation, I will deliver it to guidance or the appropriate website (Common App or school specific).
