Entropy
Cliff Notes
I. Concept of Entropy
A. Law of Entropy: in any reaction, at least some energy is always transformed into a non-usable form
B. Entropy: the amount of disorder in a system
C. System: an object or set of objects going through a reaction
-The entropy of a system will always increase. Just like when a window is broken, you still have the glass, but the pieces are in a state of "disorder"
II. Examples of Entropy
Watching TV (Energy Before = electrical, Energy After = light, sound)
Driving a Car (Energy Before = gas/chemical, Energy After = kinetic, heat/thermal, friction)
Bomb Exploding (Energy Before - chemical, Energy After = heat/thermal, light, sounds, friction)
