Mr. Abajian grew up in the Central Valley before getting his Bachelor of Arts in San Diego through Point Loma Nazarene University. Feeling the draw back to the Valley to wrap-up his teaching credential, Mr. Abajian was hired on by Central Unified in 2006 as a first year Geography teacher and Freshman Girls Basketball Coach. He fell in love with the students, the subject, and the opportunities presented to him to dive into the Central community. This love pushed his education even further as he graduated from the Masters program from Fresno Pacific in Teaching and Curriculum and even spent some time as adjunct facility for the teacher education program. While he was teaching, God laid on his heart the continent of Africa which sprung up in a movement to put an end to child soldiers in the Eastern region of Uganda and the Congo. From there, his political awareness has poured over to his students, exposing each child and family to a broader world view filled with social injustices waiting for people to stand up and be heard. Mr. Abajian teaches to inspire hope and create passion for issues here in America and around our globe in which our students at Garza can "stand for more" and seek restoration in a broken world. What a beautiful thing to see people as God sees them! Mr. Abajian has been married to his beautiful wife Megan since November of 2009 and is a proud father of three boys, Jayden (who has passed away), Cy and Nolan.
