What is The GCA Centre for Adult Autism: Mountain Empire Chapter?

Mountain Empire Aspies was founded in 2009 by two adult aspies with a goal to do something that has not been attempted in Northeast Tennessee; start a support/social group for adults with Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD-NOS, and High functioning Autism. We started with just a dream, and have grown to several members with more showing interest.

We currently intend to offer our services to adults on the spectrum without regard to where they live, their financial and dependency situation, and affiliation with any group. The only requirements are that an individual be 18 years of age or older and be diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD-NOS, or High Functioning Autism.

In 2019, we merged with one of the premier Self Advocate led Social/Support Groups in the Southeast, the GCA Centre for Adult Autism. Based in Chattanooga, TN; the GCA Centre for Adult Autism started in 2011 and has since grown to include not only a large following in the Chattanooga Area, but they have grown to include chapters in North Georgia, the Atlanta Area, and most recently, our group.

Although we have merged with GCA, most of the decision making still lies locally, and facilitation is still local in nature.
