MERR. Predictive Modeling. Statistics, Machine Learning Artificial Intelligence.
Syllabus, Fr.

Building automated decision-support tools based on data sets, and identifying and understanding their benefits and limitations, is now essential.
The objective of this course is to present methods based on statistics and machine learning in a supervised setting to solve regression and classification problems. This course will cover the theoretical foundations of machine learning as well as the practical application of algorithms to data.
The implementation of algorithms on simulated or real data will take place during lab sessions. The R and Python languages will be used in turn. The use of these two languages offers an educational value. R remains the standard in inferential statistics and exploratory visualization, with a syntax designed for statistical reasoning; Python dominates in machine learning, large-scale processing, and production integration. It should be noted that in the professional world, mastery of a single tool is rarely sufficient.
Course Outline:
-Ordinary least squares and probabilistic linear regression with or without regularization.
-Logistic regression, classification.
-Regression and classification trees,
-Model aggregation: bagging, random forests, boosting.
-Model Performance and fairness metrics.
