MOSHASSUCK VALLEY NUMBER 9 - THE LAST LOCOMOTIVE ACQUIRED

This site was created to recognize a small, obscure railroad whose enginehouse was less than a mile from where I grew up. It was typical of short lines that were built to reach industries or places left off the main lines. It was a good railroad to watch as a young boy in the early 1950's when the area around it was less developed and an adventurous place to go. The MVRR was hardly a spectacular line but hopefully anyone who takes the time to look through the site will find something of interest. The site contains three maps, a track diagram, and about fifty pictures. The colored pictures are from my own slides and the others are from my collection. The site has an introduction page which tells about the river, canal and the Sayles. The next page is The Railroad covering its history, construction, traffic, passenger service and the Pawtucket River extension. The third page details and illustrates the ten pieces of motive power owned by the railroad. Lastly there is a photo gallery to depict most places and activities on the line.
