In 1997 we established La Maison Anglaise guest house in Taroudant. We seek to fully involve our guests in local culture and environment during their stay. We are strongly committed to helping local people through projects in the community; some projects are instigated by ourselves, such our bee and soap making projects; others such as the Orphanage, the School for the Blind, Dar Si Hmad for Development, Education and Culture and the Moroccan Children's Trust are NGOs and others are inspired by our guests, as was the case with the embroidery project.
The story of the embroidery project began when Laura Shannon, a well-known circle dance teacher who brings groups to the guest house regularly,on her first visit to Morocco in 2013 spotted an embroidered baby carrying cloth. Laura has been researching Goddess embroideries for many years in connection with the traditional dances and women's ritual traditions. Please find an article on her finds here.
