I began playing West African Percussion - djembes and dunduns - in 2008. To begin with I was an avid notator of what I was learning. Writing things down not only helped me to remember, it also helped me to understand. For me, seeing how things fit together is just as important as hearing. I guess it's just the way my mind works. Visual memory. Or perhaps 'diagrammatic' would be a better word if it can be used in this context. I just like having a map!
Anyway, I soon amassed quite a collection of notes and documents in various forms and, although as the years passed by I've become less and less systematic about how I learn and document these things, I do now feel the need to get everything that I do have down in one place.

(It would be nice to have that page open up within this web site, or at least hosted on this site in such a way that it could be downloaded and edited offline as well as online, but I don't think that's possible with Google Sites. Maybe things will change one day.)
